Eastbourne Extreme Speeds Into Town!

This weekend (18-19 July) Eastbourne Extreme, which is one of the biggest free extreme sporting events on the South Coast will return to Eastbourne's Eastern seafront. The two day event features many dazzling displays and demonstrations from some top land, sea and air extreme sports display teams!

The variety of extreme sports on offer at the event is incredibly diverse this year, with awsome displays from the World Slalom Series inline skating team, Zero Gravity freestyle mountain bike team and the MBE BMX team, along with a brand new bike tour of over 100 riders on retro 1980's BMX bikes!

The bike tour, which is run by Brighton Riders BMX, starts on Sunday morning (18 July) and ends at Eastbourne's Eastern seafront where the rest of the days action will begin. The festival is not only a site of amazing displays, but also a chance for visitors to safely try out some new sporting activities in safe hands and with tutored guidance!

A brand new feature of Eastbourne Extreme this year, sees amazing and inspiring athletes demonstrating human strength as part of the Calisthenics Federation World Cup. The incredible body-building athletes stop off in Eastbourne ahead of the World Cup final in Moscow at the end of the year!

There will be windsurfing and paddleboard action with tutored sessions and competitions run by Buzz Active RYA Centre (formerly Spray Watersports), taking place on Eastbourne beach.

Eastbourne's Bourne Bombshells will be challenging teams from all over the country in the only outdoor roller derby tournament in Europe, and the World Slalom Series will see freestyle skaters battle for the top spot in the hope of representing Great Britain in future championships.

Get your skates on and head to the extreme sport festival where they'll be a freestyle skate park takeover for practicing stunts and a packed-out programme of freestyle demos, roller hockey, street skating, roller disco and tuition for new skaters!

We’ll Leave Slalom To The Experts - Eastbourne Extreme 2014

Yesterday, 8 July 2014, a few of us at Visit Eastbourne had the pleasure of attending My Skate World for a lesson and practice in Slalom skating in preparation for Eastbourne Extreme this weekend.

To say there is some talent there is an understatement! We were so impressed with the children and marshals there, with some children just 3 years old and skating far better than us!

We were taught the basics before trying to glide in and out of cones, going backwards, limbo-ing and racing and had an absolutely great time!

We had the pleasure of meeting one of Eastbourne’s young skaters who will be competing this weekend at the Extreme World Slalom Series, with hopes of representing GB in Paris later in the year! We stood in awe of how talented she was as she sped in and out of cones on one foot kneeling down and practically dancing around the arena, performing fantastic tricks.

Others that attended the session were also skating sideways, backwards and anyway their feet would go at great speed, performing freestyle Slalom and all with great ease. As we spoke to the marshals after our session, it was clear that many of the skaters go on a weekly basis and improve their skills with others. The marshals are there to help and were great teachers to us! We hope to see many of them on Fisherman's Green this weekend for the World Series Slalom competition!

My Skate World is located at 16A unit 5 Maple Road, Eastbourne, and runs after school sessions and roller discos! We would like to thank the team for having us and hope the weekend goes well! Maybe with a bit more practice we might be able to come again and show off some tricks!

Eastbourne Extreme takes place this weekend 12-13 July on the Eastern end of the seafront with the World Series Slalom competition, Roller Derby, BMX skates and scooter competitions, demo’s, windsurfing, paddle boarding, VW display, taster sessions at Spray Water Sports, Zorb arena, funfair and so much more!

Music fans will enjoy a whole weekend of entertainment near Princes Park entrance with music starting at 11.15 both days. Saturday kicks off with Grasshopper, Emperor The Stag, DUB N TUFF, Saint Apache and Master Kush’s circus. Then Sunday will see Fallow Deer, Strange Cages, The Piercings and Knocksville.

The Beatroots, formerly known as Beve & The Beatroots, will play on the music stage from 5.30pm to 7pm on Sunday, taking fans straight into the World Cup final which will be shown live on the Big Screen in Princes Park with the match starting at 8pm. Screen on the Green will also show the third place playoff match from 9pm on Saturday evening.

Eastbourne Extreme is going MAD!!

This year, Eastbourne Extreme 2013 will be going totally M.A.D! This is because the world famous M.A.D Mountain bike & Stunt Display Team are coming to rock one of the biggest and most awesome extreme sports events on the South Coast.

Eastbourne Extreme: 13-14 July

The M.A.D Team have long established themselves at the top of the Mountain bike Stunt Demo tree, after over a decade of performing shows through-out various industries, featuring at professional world-class events. The brainchild of infamous Giles Wolfe, M.A.D has dedicated itself to promoting a healthy and positive outlook on Mountain-biking and Cycling in general. Our target focal point is Mountain bike Trials, taking elements from Street/natural and Competition riding, M.A.D merges specific key elements of its own into the pot to produce inspiring, educational and breathe-taking shows.

M.A.D will be coming to Extreme 2013

M.A.D will be attending both days of Extreme (13-14 July 2013) to wow the crowds with their spectacular show taking all elements of biking.

Also at Extreme will be the exciting and sure to be popular 'Sound and Motion Magazine' stage. Once again the organisers of this great event are inviting local bands the chance to perform a 30 minute set on this terrific stage and getting noticed by tonnes of locals.

Eastbourne Extreme is one of the biggest free extreme sports festivals in the UK and it will kick off the summer holidays with an adventure filled weekend. There is a great line up of air, land and water based outdoor pursuits and it's all free to take part or just watch on Eastbourne Seafront.

In total sixteen acts will be needed so organisers are inviting bands to submit one of their finest tracks to 'Sound and Motion's' soundcloud account for a chance to rock the crowds at an event that attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Jack Moule at Eastbourne Extreme

We were lucky enough to get the chance to speak to world no. 2 freestyle jet ski champion, Jack Moule. At just 17 years old Jack is preparing for this year’s AquaX championships at Eastbourne Extreme and looking forward to entertaining the crowds with his acrobatic flare and high speed tricks!

Tell us about when you first got into jet skiing and how it came about…I first got into jet skiing when I was 13 years old. My Dad had a jet ski and always loved watersports, so I decided to have a go and loved it.

Did you think it would ever be possible to become a professional jet ski freestyle champion, let alone no. 2 in the world?I probably didn't think it would be possible to become a professional jet skier in England as the weather is not always great and to be fair it doesn't have a huge following - people just don't know much about freestyle jet skiing. But I have been lucky enough to successfully promote jet skiing as a sport and show everyone what it’s about.

What is your favourite trick and why? My favourite trick at the moment is the no-handed barrel roll, where I take both my hands off the ski as it is rotating upside down in a corkscrew!

So, you’re coming to Eastbourne on Saturday 14th July for Eastbourne Extreme – are you excited about your visit to the town?Yes, of course, it’s always nice to visit different places and have the opportunity to talk to different people and Eastbourne sounds great, so I'm looking forward to it!!

Is there anything/anyone (other than you!) we should be looking out for at Extreme?Well hopefully there will be lots of people watching me do my freestyle show and apart from that my Dad is racing in the P1 AquaX Championship so I will definitely be cheering him on as he is a rookie!

If you weren’t jet skiing, what else would you be doing?If I wasn't jet skiing I think I would definitely still do something linked to sports, either football or golf or maybe even stunt work as I always like to be active.

So The World Finals are in the USA later this year, where you’re hoping to become world no. 1. What are your other plans for the future?Yep, I'm looking forward to going to the USA for The World Finals and am busy preparing for that. I also have some other jet ski shows and displays coming up, plus other opportunities that are coming my way....so watch this space!
